ATTENTION PARENTS OF 6-12TH GRADE STUDENTS
For those of you that have not spoken to me yet, my name is Lisa Barnes and I am the School Mental Health Support Specialist from Tuscola ISD. This year I have the pleasure of spending all my time in the Vassar Public School District with our Caring for Students program. At Tuscola ISD, we believe that emotional health is just as important as physical health. To gain a better understanding of your child’s emotional well-being and social behaviors, just as we did last year, we will be administering a Mental Health Survey in the fall and spring. The results of this survey will be confidential and only be used to help me identify students that may be struggling and in need of support. Responses will only be shared if your student reports actual or potential harm to themselves or others. If it is determined that your child may benefit from my ongoing support, I will contact you directly and obtain your written consent before proceeding with any formal services.
If you DO NOT want your child to participate in the Mental Health Survey and /or any additional social emotional support services, you may print and complete the Opt Out Form on page 61 of the VPS District handbook and have your student return it to their school’s main office. Good Evening Vassar Families! We will have a double run on the Duck bus #20-11 all week. Students riding the Duck bus will be picked up and dropped off later than normal. The Horse Bus #20-6 will have double runs in the afternoon all week. Students riding the horse bus will arrive later than normal.
A big congratulations to Ashley Shindorf, who's time of 20:23 earns her a spot on the Vassar School Recod Board. Ashley knocked off Maxine Groen whose time of 20:27 held this place since 2012! Ashley time today also earned her the second fastest time in junior female cross country history for Vassar!
The Varsity team had a great showing with many season and career PR's.
