Tonight, 11 Varsity Track and Field Athletes competed at the 2024 Thumb Meet of Champions. This meet is by invitation only and hosts 28 area schools. Tonight, the girls' 4 x 200m relay consisting of Jayla Kus, Addison Kodrick, Jayda Wilson, and Paytyn Sweat, along with High Jumper Austin Long, all placed third in their events to earn their place on the Meet of Champions podium. Each year, the meet also highlights a friend of youth in each district. This year, Vassar's Friend of Youth Award recipient was Mr. Steve Gleeson. Mr. Gleeson is a dedicated former alumni and athletic director for the district. He has significantly enriched youth sports and activities over the years. He is the current president of the Vassar Athletic Association and a devoted father. Mr. Gleeseon's commitment to Vassar athletics spans from coaching and being in the classroom to helping with the Fun and Fit after-school program. His unwavering support and leadership continue to inspire and uplift Vassar's youth.
