Middle School artists are wrapping up their ceramics unit today - middle school artists made ceramic tic tac toe boards! Ava Doyle and Lily Jobson are playing a quick game with Lily's set that just came out of the kiln! What a fun project!

Registration for our STEM Innovators Program is now available on the SVSU website www.svsu.edu! This free camp is open to high school students interested in making a STEM idea become reality. Participants will work with SVSU engineering, business, and health sciences faculty to explore innovative STEM solutions, develop a business idea, conduct a feasibility study, learn marketing strategies, design a prototype, and pitch their creative idea to local experts. A true "Shark-Tank" experience! Camp dates are June 19 - 22 and registration deadline is May 12, 2023.

Congratulations to Makenna McCloud for receiving 3rd Place in the High School Teacher's Choice category and to Ava Doyle for receiving 2nd Place in the Middle School Teacher's Choice category at the Art at the Inn Art Show. There were hundreds of students that had work on display at this show, and as usual, our Vulcan Artists shined! Congratulations on a job well done!
Happy Spring! We just want to remind everyone to check out all of the fun Community classes available through TISD Adult and Community Education! The TISD has a couple painting classes with gorgeous pictures to choose from, beginning cooking and beginning crocheting just to name a few!

There is nothing better than seeing the success of our former Vulcan Students! Meet Jeremy LaPratt, a 1989 graduate of VHS. Jeremy attended Ferris State University, earned a bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, and was a Division II hockey team member. He went on to attend Michigan State University to graduate with honors receiving a degree in Turf Grass Management. Jeremy is currently the Golf Course Superintendent at Bay County Golf Course. Jeremy is a familiar face here at VPS, as he served on the Board of Education for six years and is an announcer at various sporting events. Jeremy will be an assistant coach for our Vulcan Varsity Softball team this spring. Do you know a Vassar graduate with a great story we could share? Good Evening 11th-grade Families! Your students will complete the MSTEP and WorkKeys test Thursday, April 13, and Friday, April 14. Students should get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time. Tech Center will occur as normal for Seniors but attendance will be optional for Juniors. Thank you for helping your students have a great testing experience.
Just a reminder Seniors and Parents! Herff Jones will be here to hand out Cap and Gowns next Thursday, Apr. 13 during lunch. If you have a balance due, make sure you bring the money with you.

Any senior receiving scholarships (outside of the ones that will be given on Awards Night), please let Mrs. Whitney know so she can include them in the graduation program. Also, if there are any seniors going into the military, please let Mrs. Whitney know.
Your senior picture AND a baby picture are due NO LATER than April 20, 2023. The sooner you can get these in, the better. Please email a vertical (portrait) senior photo to spiazza@vassar.k12.mi.us along with a baby photo for the yearbook and slideshow.
Good Afternoon 6-12 Families! Students in grades 6, 7, and 12 will have no school tomorrow Wednesday, April 12, due to PSAT and SAT testing. Students in grades 8-10 will be dismissed at approximately 1 pm, lunch will be provided, and a special bus run will occur for these students. Students in grade 11 will be dismissed, as usual, along with elementary students. As a reminder, phones, smart watches, headphones, and other electronic devices are prohibited in testing rooms. Any student who brings these items to school tomorrow must turn them in. Please ask your student to leave electronics at home tomorrow if possible. Due to testing, there will be no tech center for grade 12. Thank you for your cooperation.

Congratulations to Mr. Tallman who was selected as a 2023 STEM Star by the Huron ISD! Mr. Tallman will receive $250 to use on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) items for his classroom and robotics program! We are so thankful for these great opportunities that Mr. Tallman provides for our Vulcans!

Ashley received her associate's and bachelor's degrees from Ferris State University College of Pharmacy in 2015. Ashley went on to earn her Doctorate in Pharmacy in 2019. Currently, Ashley is a clinical pharmacy specialist at McLaren Bay Region, where she completes rounds with the intensive care team and optimize medication therapy for critically ill patients.
